Get To Know Larry

Meet Larry, an irresistible medium Bernedoodle puppy . This handsome F1 boy is the perfect result of two exceptional parents — the calm, nurturing Ellie, our purebred Bernese Mountain Dog, and the brilliantly smart and playful Toby, our striking red and white miniature Poodle. Larry brings together the very best of both worlds, and it shows in every wag of his tail.

Larry sports a gorgeous black tri-color coat that perfectly echoes the classic Bernese Mountain Dog markings — rich, eye-catching, and beautifully defined. His coat has that wonderful Bernedoodle texture — soft, low-to-non-shedding, and absolutely perfect for families who love dogs but not the mess.

But Larry isn’t just a pretty face. Thanks to Toby’s Poodle intelligence and Ellie’s gentle, steady temperament, Larry is shaping up to be the kind of dog that fits seamlessly into family life. He’s curious and quick to learn, loves to engage with the people around him, and carries that sweet, easygoing calm that Bernese Mountain Dogs are so beloved for. Mom: Ellie

Meet Ellie, our sweet and stunning purebred Bernese Mountain Dog and one of the newest moms at Berry Patch Puppies. As a first-time mother, Ellie has taken to motherhood like a natural — and we couldn’t be prouder of her. From the very first moments with her litter, Ellie has shown exactly the kind of gentle, nurturing instinct that makes a truly exceptional dam. She’s attentive without being anxious, calm without being disengaged — always present, always patient, and always making sure each of her puppies feels safe and loved. Ellie’s temperament is everything you’d hope for in a Bernese — warm, steady, and affectionate. She carries herself with the quiet confidence that the breed is known for, and her easy-going nature creates a peaceful, secure environment for her pups to grow and thrive. Visitors are always drawn to her gentle presence, and it’s easy to see why her puppies develop such calm, well-adjusted personalities from the very start. We are so proud of how Ellie has stepped into this new chapter, and we can’t wait to watch her continue to flourish as a mom. Her puppies are truly lucky to have her.
Say hello to Toby, our charming red and white miniature Poodle sire and one of Berry Patch Puppies’ most beloved boys. With his striking two-tone coat and bright, expressive eyes, Toby is impossible not to fall in love with the moment you meet him — but it’s his personality that really steals the show. Toby is brilliantly smart. He picks up on everything around him with lightning-quick curiosity, and his intelligence shines through in the way he engages with people and his environment. Poodles are widely recognized as one of the most intelligent dog breeds in the world, and Toby is a shining example of that reputation. Pair that sharp mind with a playful, spirited energy and you’ve got a dog who is endlessly entertaining and deeply engaging. Despite his big personality, Toby is wonderfully balanced — his playfulness never tips into unruliness, and his cleverness makes him a joy to be around. He brings enthusiasm, charm, and excellent genetics to every litter he sires, and his offspring consistently reflect his wonderful combination of brains, beauty, and personality. Toby is truly one of a kind, and we’re so proud to have him as part of the Berry Patch Puppies family.Say hello to Toby, our charming red and white miniature Poodle sire and one of Berry Patch Puppies’ most beloved boys. Bernedoodles

The bernedoodle is a cross between a Bernese mountain dog and a poodle.

This crossbreed mixes the ingenious silliness of the poodle, with the even-tempered fidelity of the Berner. It is also a smaller sized dog for those who think a Bernese Mountain Dog is a bit too large, or have small children in the house and fear that a large dog breed may be too much of a handful. Bernedoodles shed less than Berners, making them safer for people with allergies.

The Bernedoodle is a great companion dog. Some can have a “messy” look about them. I wouldn’t expect them to win the beauty show award, but that’s not the main reason we adopt our furry friend, is it? But if you are looking for someone who will be happy to be with you on a hike, snowshoeing, out on the yard, or laying by the fireplace; then the Bernedoodle will be what you need.

Although our litters are very consistent to avoid any in-breeding, no two Bernedoodles are identical. The genes from the parent change the litter in infinite permutations of coat marking. If you’d like to choose your own puppy marking, perhaps you should coordinate with us to get your puppy after it has been born and maybe even trained. But your options could be limited to what’s available. Since Bernedoodles are so popular, sometimes they are reserved even before they’re born.

Bernedoodle Report Card:

(Important characteristics and make up of Bernedoodles)

Time With Kids:

A+

The matching of a bernese  mountain dogs and a poodle really makes a berneoodle the perfect blend to be a family dog.

Researching the history of bernese mountain dogs you will quickly learn as dogs their purpose was to protect the herd. Mixing that history with the poodles intellegence, silliness and desire play. Bernedoodles boast characterestics that lead them to bonding with children via play and the inherit pedigree to look out for them.

Hair / Shedding:

A

Each bernedoodles coat is unique due to their genetics. However, generally we consider all our bernedoodles to be minimal to none when it comes shedding.

We also consider all our bernedoodles to be hypoallergenic however, that term is often miss used. If allergies are an important part of your puppy search, let us know. As there is some puppies that have coats more so suited for allergies.

Exercise:

B+

While they are unquestionably meant to live indoors with their family, Bernedoodles enjoy outdoor activities and make great companions on long walks, hikes, hunting trips, camping, and/or backpacking.

But rest and hydration is also important as bernedoodles love to be outside so make sure they are hydrated and rested.

Keeping Your Bernedoodle active and engaged in some form of exercise controls weight, improves brain activity and extends their overall health.

Training:

A+

Early socialization and obedience training are important for all dogs, but especially so for breeds as large as the Bernedoodle. Bernedoodles are intelligent and eager to please, so they are usually easy to train, in fact they enjoy it! They are also affectionate and openhearted; their feelings are easily hurt, and so they don’t respond well to harsh corrections or training methods. They are living proof that gentle giants exist.

They make for great service dogs.

Grooming:

B+

Bernedoodle have a complex mix of long and wooly coats from the Bernese Mountain and the Poodle. Brush your Bernedoodle weekly to minimize shedding and an overgrown coat. Not only it will help your dog look stunning, but it improves coat quality, reduce knotting, minimizes skin conditions and dandruff, and regulates temperature. As with all breeds, the nails should be trimmed regularly, as overly long nails can cause the dog pain, structural problems, and accidental scratching. If you can hear your dog clicking when he/she walks, that is a great indicator that nails are too long.

Overal Health:

A+

Bernedoodles, in general, are very healthy. As responsible breeders, we ensure that our parents are screened for any health condition such as: hip and elbow dysplasia, blood disorders, cancers, and progressive retinal atrophy.

Additionally, and as recommended for any dog, a Bernedoodle’s ears should be checked regularly for signs of infection, and the teeth should be brushed often, using a toothpaste designed for dogs.
